English Country Dancing had its beginnings around 1650 during the reign of Queen Elizabeth the first. It first appeared in a book called The English Dancing Master by John Playford. It was subsequently popularized both then and now in the writings of Jane Austen.
The uniqueness of English Country Dancing lies in the figures and the music. Each dance has its own specific set of figures and its own specific music. The figures flow with the music in such a way as to be most enjoyable.
We hold English Country Dances at the Granite Peak Unitarian Universalist Church, 882 Sunset, in Prescott, on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. All are welcome, no partner required. All dances are taught and/or demonstrated before actually doing them

A Country Western Dance Club, not for profit organization formed in the early 1990s. Our main activity is putting on a monthly dance at The Villages at Lynx Creek, which we contract for annually. At the dances we usually provide dance instruction, and they are usually held on the first Saturday of the month. However, in January, July, and December of 2010, they will be held on the second Saturday of the month. We usually begin at 6:00PM with a couples dance lesson, followed by a line dance lesson, and then open dancing with a Deejay 'til 10:00PM.
